A recent study at Harvard Law School reporting on the state of diversity in the C-suite, analyzed 1,583 executives at the 100 largest companies in the S&P500 finding that only 23% of S&P100 C-suite members were either Black, Hispanic/Latino or Asian. The study also reported that only 28% of S&P100 C-suite members were women.
The reason why this is alarming is because the American workforce in totality is diverse, with 37% being Asian, Black, or Hispanic/ Latino, and 47% being women. Therefore diversity is not flowing into leadership.
In an ongoing series, Rosann recently posted Pillar 3: Adaptability on her YouTube Channel:
She explained, “Not only do you have to be able to command a room but you must also be able to read the room as well.”
She went on to say, “A professional problem solver will always be employable and can never be replaced by an AI or automation process.”
The study found that Corporate America C-suites are still disproportionately white and male dominant. By and large, Women, Black, and Hispanic/Latino executives are under-represented among most C-suite positions.
With the massive talent pool of skills, ideas, and experiences from this under-represented portion of the workforce there is a plethora of individuals available to organizations to put in positions to help their company innovate and thrive.
