In a study conducted by Harvard Law School to report on the current state of diversity in the C-suite that included 1,583 executives at the 100 largest companies in the S&P500 it was found to be true that only 23% of S&P100 C-suite members were either Hispanic/Latino, Black or Asian.
Further reports within the study revealed that only 28% of S&P100 C-suite members were women. The American workforce is comprised of 37% Asian, Black, or Hispanic/ Latino with 47% of that total being women. The study highlights the need for diversity to be more free-flowing into leadership positions.
In an ongoing series ‘The 5 Pillars of Success’, Rosann recently posted Pillar 5: Networking Networking Networking on her YouTube Channel:
She explained Networking as her favorite Pillar of Success, “Most C-level executives have reached their position by a combination of what they know and who they know.”
She went on to say, “They have taken everything they have learned through their career and become master networkers. They know how to spot quality long-lasting networking opportunities, and make the connections and follow-up accordingly. Most people who get hired by an organization at the executive level already knew someone at the organization where they were hired.”
The Harvard study found that Corporate America C-suites are still disproportionately white and male dominant with Women, Black, and Hispanic/Latino executives under-represented among most C-suite positions.
